The Importance of Generating a Unique Logo Design

A good logo design is the first thing that attracts a customer to a brand. It is the foundation and the first impression of your brand. It makes your brand look good and attractive before a customer even walks in.

Over time it becomes the identity of your brand. It is something that stays with you forever as a representation of you. It is essential to make a unique logo as the more attractive the logo is, the more attention it will grab.

It is a source of gaining more audience at the initial stages of the business. It shows who you are and what you represent. It is also an initial source of communication with the people.

Define Who You Are As a Brand

The thing you should do is,  knowing who you are. It will help you create your brand identity. Before you start,  you should have a clear understanding of your brand. The following are the things you should consider:

    • What is Your Mission?

Before you begin to work on your brand, you need to have a mission. The mission will give your brand motivation in the long run. Also, it will provide you with a brand identity. Have a mission!

    • What are Your Values?

What are the beliefs that drive your brand? Consider having some value when generating a brand. A brand made with values attracts more people. It will also help you stay focused on your brand.

    • What is the Voice of Your Brand?

Your brand should be in such a way that it communicates with the customers. This includes designing your brand in such a way that it speaks volumes.

    • How Are You Different?

To be unique in a competitive world, you need to differentiate yourself from your competitors.

Before starting your brand, you need to have a clear understanding and a clear vision of the above. It will help you create a unique brand identity.

Things to Consider While Generating Ideas

There are a few things to keep in mind when making a good logo. Below is a list of things, such as

    • It Should Be Simple

A unique logo does not mean it has to be complex. A simple design is better for describing yourself. It is much easier to convey your vision in a simple design rather than a complex.

    • It Should Be Versatile

Since the logo is there in different parts of the brand, it should be versatile. The logo is there on business cards, bags and websites. The creation of the logo design should be in such a way that it looks good on everything.

    • It Should Be Timeless

Following trends in every aspect is common nowadays. You should not follow any trends while making a logo. Trends go away but  timeless things stay forever.

As the business is on an ongoing concern basis, the logo should reflect every era of life. This way, the logo is not outdated at any stage of life.

Process to Generate Ideas for Logo.

    1. Give Time to Think

To generate a good idea,  you have to put in the thinking behind the design. It is a whole process. The things you need  to start with are:

    2. Gather Information

Start by gathering information about the brand. What, the brand is? What is the target audience? What is the focus of the brand? What are the values you want to convey? ,etc. By creating a notepad,  this is possible.

You can add all the information needed about the brand in one notepad. It can also include questions for further gathering of information.

    3. Do Mind Mapping

Once you have gathered enough information, you can do mind mapping. You can pick keywords from the above information. Now you can use the keywords for a visual representation of the information.

    4. Make Lists of Words

You can separate each keyword and do the mind mapping with each keyword individually. This way a lot more similar words will come to your mind. You can make five to six or even more lists of words in this way. Don’t forget to cut off irrelevant keywords.

    5. Combine Words

Take three to four words from each list and combine them to generate unique ideas for the logo. This way,  you can list down four to five best combinations.

    6. Draw The Combinations

Pick out the words from the combinations and draw them. Draw each combination in a way that all three drawings interlink with each other. This way,  you will be able to generate unique ideas for a logo.

Ask Yourself Questions After Making a Design

    • Will The Customers Like It?

Customer preference is the most important thing in a brand. If the customers are not attracted to it, then the design is useless. Look at the design from the perspective of a customer and then decide.

    • Is It Different and Unique from my Competitors?

Keep the designs of your competitors in mind. The logo design should not be like any of the competitors in the market.

    • Does It Represent You?

The logo of your brand should be a reflection of you or your brand. Look at it in a way that describes you or not. This is the most important basis of assessing a good logo design.

    • Does It Look Attractive?

You can figure out the attractiveness of a logo only by looking at it once. If your eyes sparkle when you see the logo, then that’s what you are looking for in your design.

    • Is It Classic and Memorable?

You are the best judge when deciding if the logo is long-lasting or not.

These questions can be the best way to decide if your logo is unique and appropriate for your business.

Final Thoughts: How to Generate Creative Ideas for a Logo and Brand Identity

The above information will help you generate creative ideas. It will also help you consider other aspects when generating ideas.

You can also build a mood board. To do this, you have to collect all the relevant pictures and designs for your brand. Then paste these pictures into any document such as PowerPoint.

You can also look for such material on the internet, in books, or in magazines. At this point,  focus on only what you feel like doing and try being more innovative when you explore.  Mood board will help you give a vision for your ideas.

You can also start by doing word mapping. You can start by writing a word relating to the brand in the centre of a paper. Now pull out arrows extending from that word,  adding more relatable words to it. It is similar to the method written above.

Picture mapping is another technique. It is the same as word mapping. The only difference is that a picture, symbol, or sign is drawn instead of a word.

There are a thousand ways to be innovative in your thinking. It is wrong to say that only a few people are creative. But actually, anyone can be creative. To think creatively,  you need to spend time.

There is nothing you can’t achieve with hard work. Spending a good quality of time is an important thing. Do not hesitate to take your first step. Give enough time for your research. The more research you have done, the more quality material you will have.

Nobody is going to see what you are sketching initially. Sketch out all the material you have collected. You can even draw the rubbish one as there are no judgments. A unique logo will define your work.

This article is a complete guide to innovative logo generating ideas. Try reading it all and follow the steps according to it. It will lead you to make a unique logo.

    Best of Luck!
