A popular question I get asked on a weekly basis but other logo designers or people looking to become a logo designer is “What sketching equipment do you use?” I thought it would be a good resource to make a list and explanation of the equipment that I can refer people to.
When starting out as a logo designer, one of the most satisfying things is building yourself a great set of equipment. There is an old saying that goes “you are only as good as the tools you use” which can be very true.
Trademarks + Corporate Symbols (1991) is a publication by Novum press and is edited by Dieter Urban. The book is one of the many logo books which were published by Novum. There are at least 3 other logo books from this series which will be discussed in the future.

Today we’re going to discuss logo and brand guidelines.
Have you ever seen a company’s logo which has been stretched and squeezed it doesn’t look the best does it. Now imagine if that was your logo and you’d spent time and effort to get the perfect design and the perfect brand identity for your business or your service or your product and then you hand it over to someone. They take it the put it in an advert and they squash it to make it fit I can imagine it’s not going to make you happy.
We are surrounded by logos on a daily basis they are everywhere we look and typically found on everything from food, clothes, cars, toys, electrical equipment such as our televisions, games consoles, radios, cookers, and fridges. Even when walking down the street and when a bus passes by they are literally everywhere we look.
